The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Hon James Oche yesterday flagged off the distribution of fertilizer to farmers in Ado by officials of the National and State Emergency Management Agencies (NEMA, SEMA). This, no doubt is to promote agriculture activities and enhance greater output.
Oche who believes in the agricultural potential of the Ado people while assuming office as Chairman, expressed the readiness of his administration to be committed to agriculture.
The distribution the Chairman explained passed a statutory procedure with the sole aim of ensuring that all registered farmers have access to fertilizer.
Oche who provided maximum security of a combined team of men of the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Army, the Homeland Defence and the Vigilante also ensured preference in sharing to the Aged, pregnant women, breast feeding mothers and people living With disabilities.
Oche on behalf of the people appreciated NEMA, SEMA and the Benue State government for facilitating the distribution and urged the beneficiaries to use the fertilizer for the purpose it was meant.
It is incontestible that, the COVID-19 pandemic is having a negative impact on the world and the forecast is that there is impending hunger to be faced globally at the post pandemic era, hence the need to aggressively embrace agriculture.
