Journalist Ameh Godwin was yesterday allegedly attacked by one Prince Onuh, the immediate Caretaker Chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to Ameh, the ex-council caretaker chairman and the flag bearer of the PDP in the forthcoming local government elections in the state carried out the act alongside his brother and other boys that came to the venue of the attack after they called him a thief.
The sad incident took place in Area 8, Abuja after he was lured to the location by one of his cousin’s.
LASGIDI ONLINE gathered that the attack might be as a result of Ameh’s criticism of the ex-chairman’s administration in his local government.
Ameh shared the News on his Facebook timeline saying;
Prince Onuh and his brother, Frank, ambushed me today at Area 8, Abuja with some boys and they attacked me.
They beat and injured me seriously. It was God that saved me because they were shouting thief and some people came out with weapons to kill me.
One of the boys nearly smashed my head with stone but I barely escaped with my life.
My own brother, Fred Apochi led me to them.
Hon. Friday Adogo was among those who saved me.
Let’s see how it ends.
At the time of filing this report, Prince Onuh’s camp released a statement denying ever attacking the award winning journalist accusing him of trying to blackmail the ex-council chairman.
