She may have teamed up with the Cambridges for the Chelsea Flower Show’s opening – but that didn’t stop beady-eyed royal watchers from thinking that the Queen may have actually had Team Sussex on her mind yesterday.
In support of the Duchess of Cambridge’s Back to Nature plot, the Queen – a big fan of the Flower Show – made an appearance and gave Kate’s handiwork the royal seal approval .
As well as giving us all a masterclass in colour blocking, the Queen’s choice of outfit also became a topic of conversation among royal fans.
As fans pointed out, the Queen was wearing the very same dress and coat as she did for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ’s wedding.
The timing was also interesting, as it was exactly a year ago (minus a day).
There’s no shortage of speculation about how the Queen communicates her feelings through a clever choice of accessory or jewellery item .
Whether or not this is her intention, we’ll obviously never know – Her Maj, rightfully, likes to keep an air of mystery about her.
But there could be more to it than simply being a clever coincidence.
Last week Stewart Parvin – the Queen’s ex-stylist made an interesting revelation to The Sunday Times .
He explained that he used to keep an updated spreadsheet of her majesty’s wardrobe and outfit – which detailed the time, occasion and date she wore each piece.
So it’s not out of the question that the Queen was sending Harry Meghan an anniversary shout-out.
